     Our Department was established in the year 1974 by our Distinguished President Dr. M. Aruchami. The Department offers Aided courses Viz., B.Sc., Zoology., M.Sc., Zoology., M./Phil., Zoology (Full Time and Part Time)., Ph.D. Zoology (Full Time and Part Time). Department of Zoology is supported by a team of faculty members who commit themselves to the highest standards both in academics and research.

       It represents one of the most vibrant among its aspirants in terms of extramural research grants, faculty ratio, internationally trained faculty member with good academic and research experience.


      To make students understand the diversity, Habitat and functioning of animals in order to conserve the environment and promoting the new biology and its cutting – edge - Technology.


Broadcasting knowledge in Animal Sciences through innovative teaching and learning and also to make awareness about problems affecting Animal and Human health and world challenging environmental issues.

Programmes offered:

     In today’s fast developing world, Zoological Science holds a prominent place as few professions do. Zoology are and will continue to remain one of the prospective professions. Zoology students require special kind of interest to be successful. Zoology is one of the promising and thrust area in Science and Technology.

    B.Sc., Zoology, students will learn Scientific Classification of Animal kingdom and fundamentals in Zoology during first two years. They will be introduced frontiers areas such as Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Biophysics and Biostatistics and Bioinformatics etc. apart from regular courses they will be offered extra departmental courses and job oriented courses like sericulture, Apiculture, ornamental fish cultivation and trading etc. Along with their regular courses, students will be given projects by that they can have collaboration with other institutions and industries in Coimbatore and across India.

    M.Sc., Zoology, They will be exposed in detail to advance and modern biological sciences and they will be introduced to the basics of research and trained on how to design experiments, data analysis and writing a manuscript. Their project work will be published in reputed journals in the field, by that, they can avail job and research opportunities at both national and international level. They will be aware about the competitive exams. At last, when they wind up the course, they will be excelled in theory as well as hands on experience in state – of – art techniques to be competitive.

M.Phil and Ph.D Zoology, The Department aims to attract the most promising and outstanding students to enroll the M.Phil and Ph.D (Full time and Part time) programme. We are looking forward to hear from motivated student who have zeal with commitment to do their research at KASC.
