International Workshop on Approaches in Basic and Applied Research in Science and Technology

Indian Science Congress Association, Coimbatore Chapter and PG and Research Department of Zoology, Kongunadu Arts & Science College, Coimbatore jointly organized a International workshop on “Approaches in Basic & Applied Research in Science & Technology” held on 10th August 2018.

Dr. V. Balasubramaniam, Principal, Kongunadu Arts & Science College welcomed the gathering. Dr. C. A. Vasuki, Secretary and Director, Kongunadu Arts and Science College presided over the function. Inaugural address was given by Dr. Ramesh Sivanpillai, Research Scientist- Senior, WY GIS Centre and Department of Botany, University of Wyoming, Laramie, USA. Dr. S. Paulsamy, Dean and R & D, Kongunadu Arts & Science College, Coimbatore facilitated the gathering.

 In the first section Dr. Ramesh Sivanpillai, Research Scientist- Senior, WY GIS Center and Department of Botany, University of Wyoming, Laramie, USA delivered a talk on “Publishing Scientific Results : Tips and Suggestions for Research Scholars”. In his speech he explained the importance of reviewing literature to identify new research problems, publications in reputed journals and create ORCID to establish identity while publishing paper.

 In the second session Dr. A. Chandramohan, Head and Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry, Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore, spoke on the topic “Recent developments in chemical science Research”. He explained about crystallography, crystal identification, Use of picric acid in crystallization. Non-linear optical crystallography, chemical structure of penicillin and use as antibiotics.

 At the end Dr. S. Binu Kumari, Organizing Secretary and Assistant professor of Zoology, Kongunadu Arts and Science College, Coimbatore, of this programme proposed the Vote of thanks. Large number of delegates, Scholars and Students from KASC and from other colleges and Universities participated and benefited.
