As a part of 3rd International Yoga Day Celebrations, Yoga and Meditation Centre of our college organised a One Day Workshop on ‘Yoga for Healthy Life’ on 21.06.2017 at the college Conference hall. The registration for the programme began at 09.30 am. The Inaugural session started at 10.30 am with a prayer song. Dr. M. Manimegalai, Co-ordinator, Yoga and Meditation Centre and Associate Professor of Zoology welcomed the gathering. Dr. V. Balasubramaniam, Principal (i/c) of the college delivered the Inaugural address. The session I was handled by a group of 3 Yoga teachers from Prajapidha Brahma Kumarigal Easwarya Vishwa Vidyalayam, Coimbatore on the topic ‘Stress Management’ in which they practically explained the benefits of meditation and various aasanas. The session II was moderated by
Dr. D. Thilagavathy, Consultant Naturopathy. In this session Yoga trainer, Mrs. Renuga from Integral Yoga Centre, Coimbatore demonstrated and guided the students to perform several aasanas one by one. Earlier, Dr. D. Thilagavathy briefed the benefits of Yoga in her talk on ‘Yoga for Healthy Life’. Valedictory function began at 03.30 pm. Dr. V. Chinnusamy, Chief Executive Officer of the College delivered the Valedictory address and distributed the certificates to the participants. Dr. M. Vivek Prabu, Assistant Professor of Mathematics proposed the Vote of Thanks. The function came to an end with the National Anthem. A total of 126 student participants got benefited out of this workshop.
