  • A "State Level Talent Hunt for School Students" was conducted by the PG and Research Department of Biotechnology on 08.08.2014 to attract School students towards Science education and to create awareness about the recent developments in the fast growing field of Biotechnology. About 170 school students (VI - XII Std) from various schools in and around Coimbatore participated energetically in the programme.
  • Dr. S. Krishnakumari, Associate Professor, Department of Biochemistry organized a State level training programme entitled "Medical Mushroom Cultivation" on 19.8.2014. About 150 students and 50 general public took part in the training and they were trained in Mushroom cultivation.
  • The Department of Zoology organized a National level Educator skills workshop on "The Sahyadri Fresh water Biodiversity - 2014" jointly with M/s. Zoo Out Reach Organization, Coimbatore on 20th August 2014.
  • The PG Department of Chemistry organized a state level workshop on "Microscale Experiments in chemistry" on September 16th 2014. Dr.S.Murugan, Associate professor and Head (Retd), S.T.Hindu College, Nagerkoil presided over the workshop. 110 students from various Colleges participated.
  • The UG Department of Computer Science (Unaided) organized a State Level Technical Symposium "AZTECS-2K14" on 23.09.2014. Mr.A.Gokul Krishnan, Managing Director of Keertiman Groups was the Chief guest. More than 150 students from various Colleges took part in the different events and won prizes.
  • A One day National level workshop on "Android Application Development" was conducted on 26.9.2014 by the Department of Information Technology in association with M/s.TEMPESTRONICS. Saifur Rahman Mohsin, Founder & CEO gave the Keynote Address. 300 students from various Colleges including Kongunadu Arts and Science College participated. They were trained to create new 'Apps' in their laptops.
  • The Department of Tamil organized a National level Workshop on "Benefits of Mass Media" on 15.10.2014 in which about 500 students participated. Mrs.Aandal Priyadharshini, Director, Door Darshan, Coimbatore Kendra delivered the Special address.
  • The PG Department of Biotechnology organised two days workshop on "Techniques in Microbial Biotechnology Based Surfactants and their Commercial Opportunities" on 19th January 2015. Dr.Pattanathu K.S.M.Rahman, Senior Lecturer and Programme Leader, School of Science and Engineering, Teesside University, U.K. was the Chief Guest. The students of Biotechnology, Botany, Zoology and Biochemistry Departments of Kongunadu Arts and Science College were benefited.
  • A 5-days State level training Programme on "Fresh water prawn farming and recent advances in agriculture practices" was conducted from 28.01.2015 to 01.02.2015 by the Zoology Department. Dr.S.Vijayakumar, Deputy Director, Marine Product Export development Authority, Tamilnadu presided over the programme. 200 Participants were benefited.


  • The PG & Research Department of Chemistry organized a National Level Inter-collegiate Student's Meet "Exploring Chemistry CHEMBOND'14" on 24.09.2014. Dr. S. Sathiyaraj, Assistant Professor, Dr. N. G. P. Institute of Technology, Coimbatore was the Chief guest and delivered the special address. About 140 students from various colleges in and around Coimbatore participated in various events.
  • The UG Department of Computer Applications organized a one day National Level Symposium on 30th September 2014. Mr.P.Sathish, Production In-charge, Apex Multimedia, Coimbatore delivered the special lecture on the topic "Recent Trends in Multimedia".
  • A One day state level Seminar & Exhibition on "Understanding our wildlife" was jointly organized by the Zoology Department with 'OSAI', a Non-Government Organisation and the Department of Forest Government of Tamilnadu on 10th October 2014.
  • A 2-days National Level conference was conducted by the Department of Tamil on "Human Rights in Tami Literature" on 13th and 14th December 2014. Padmashri Thiru. D.R.Kaarthikeyan, IPS, Advisor, Law-Human Rights-Corporate Affairs, New Delhi was the Chief Guest.
  • A Conference on "Medicinal Plants and Health Care" was conducted by the Biotechnology Department on 17.03.2015. Dr.Karuppaswamy, Head, Department of Botany, Madura College, Madurai delivered a lecture on Medicinal Plants perspectives and practices.
  • A National level seminar on "ROBOTICS Championship 2015" was jointly organized by the Physics Department and the IIT and Ark Techno Solutions and Helios, Chennai on 19th and 20th March 2015.
  • A one day seminar on "Emerging trends in nano science" was conducted by the PG Department of Biotechnology on 31.03.2015. Dr.S.Kalidass, Associate Professor, School of Biotechnology and Health Sciences, Karunya University, Coimbatore gave the Keynote Address followed by a Technical Session by Dr.R.Selvakumar, Professor, Dept of NANO Biotechnology, PSG Institute of NANO Sciences on 'Bio Molecules in NANO Technology; Structure, Functions and its Applications'.


  • A Special Lecture was organized by the Department of Botany on 23.6.2014. Dr.Ramesh Sivanpillai, Research Scientist – Remote Sensing, Department of Botany, University of Wyoming, USA delivered a Lecture on "Opportunities for Graduate Studies And Research" at University of Wyoming, USA.
  • The Department of Physics organized a Special lecture on "NOBEL LAUREATES in Physics" by Dr.Sa.K.Narayana Dass, Professor and Head (Retd), Department of Physics, Bharathiar University on 26th September 2014.
  • A Special lecture on "The Essentials of Grammar and Communication Skills" by Dr. R. Santhakumari on 16.10.2014 was conducted by the English Department.
  • An Awareness programme and a Special Lecture had been organized on 'How to avoid dengue fever?' on 23.12.2014 by suggesting Preventive Measures and Remedies to the local villagers resing at places like Vellakinar and Urumandampalayam.
  • The Department of Botany organized a special lecture on 'Diversity of mushroom fungi and their importance in humankind' on 19.01.2015. Dr.V.Mohan, Senior scientist, Institute of Forest Genetics and Tree Breeding, Coimbatore was the Chief Guest and delivered the Lecture.
