Dr S R Madhan Shankar appointed as Dean Academics, Associate Professor and Head (PG) , Department of Biotechnology, Kongunadu Arts & Science College, has about 20 years of academic and research experience. He graduated from Kongunadu Arts and Science College with University First Rank and Gold medal and post graduate from Dr G R D College of Science with University rank. There after he completed his PhD from Institute of Forest Genetics and Tree Breeding, Coimbatore. He has published two books,20 papers in international journals and 9 in National Journals with a cumulative impact factor of 6.5 and Scopus index of 4. He has also authored 2 books and one book chapter. He has served as member of Board of Studies in several autonomous college. He is the campus ambassador of United States India Education Foundation (USIEF). He has coordinated several project works. Notable among them are 2 industry sponsored projects. He has been sanctioned with a project from IMPRESS ICSSR to tune of 11 Lakh for deciphering the knowledge, attitude, practice among tribal women of Nilgiri District with reference to PCOS. He is a consultant for several quality initiatives at higher education institutions. He is a recipient of Fellow Award in Forest Biotechnology from Society of Biotechnology and has been honored with the Prestigious PSG Teacher of the Year Award in 2016 and Best Senior Faculty of Biotechnology by Novel Research Academy Pondicherry in 2019. He has served as resource persons in several national and international conferences and seminars. He has visited Mauritius , Sri Lanka and Israel on official assignment; and obtained travel grant from UGC and CICS for the same. His current areas of interest include Healthcare Biotechnology, Development of weedicides from allelochemicals from tree species. He is currently guiding 9 students for PhD. He is the also the State Convener of Environmental Education panel of Shiksha Sanskriti Uthan Nyas ( SSUN) , Delhi. He is also the first batch of Green Educators recognized by Center for Science and Environment, Delhi.
