Dr. P. Matheswaran completed his B.Sc., Physics in 2003 at Gobi Arts and Science College, followed by M.Sc., Physics in 2005 at Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya College of Arts and Science, where he was honoured as the Proficient M.Sc. Student of the Year 2005. He carried out his research work from Aug' 2006 to Jan'2013 as a full-time research scholar at Kongunadu Arts and Science College and was awarded his Ph.D. in Physics for the impact of ion beam irradiation on bilayer thin films. During this time, he also served as a Project Fellow at Inter University Accelerator Centre (IUAC), New Delhi, for three years (2007-2010) and was recognised as the Best Research Scholar of the Year 2011. 
During his doctoral research, he received several accolades, including the Indian Nanoelectronics User Fellowship from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, and 2 Best research paper awards,  Ph.D. Thesis Proposal Project (UFR-49222) sponsored by IUAC, New Delhi. His academic career includes serving as a Lecturer at Gobi Arts and Science College (2005–2006) and as an Assistant Professor at Kongu Engineering College, Perundurai, Erode (2012–2013).
Since joining Kongunadu Arts and Science College as an Assistant Professor in August 2013, Dr. P. Matheswaran has successfully completed three Major Research Projects (MRP) as Principal Investigator, funded by IUAC, New Delhi. His research has resulted in 39 publications in reputed international journals with notable impact factors and citation records. He actively contributes as a reviewer for five international journals and has guided two Ph.D. scholars - one currently serving as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Tamkang University, Taiwan, and the other as a Fellow in the International Internship Pilot Program offered by the National Science and Technology Council, Taiwan.
Beyond teaching and research, Dr.Matheswaran has taken on numerous institutional responsibilities, including serving as NSS Programme Officer and as a member of various committees such as the Internal Exam Committee, NAAC Support Team, DST-FIST Team, Entrepreneurship Development Cell, Student Induction Programme (SIP), Anti-Ragging Committee, and Research Committee.
Currently, he holds the position of Dean of Research and Development and serves as a member of the IQAC, Technical Committee, Purchase Committee, and Website Committee. He also coordinates the Instrumentation Maintenance Committee, Central Instrumentation Facility and Consultancy Services, and the Student Project Scheme for TNSCST, alongside his regular academic duties.
Dr.Matheswaran’s impressive record of teaching excellence, research achievements, leadership skills, and academic competence continues to foster a dynamic academic and innovative research environment.
