Campus WalkIII B.Sc Computer Science students visited the Regional Science Centre and Science Museum, Coimbatore. In the beginning, the students, saw the energy ball. It is the maze of circuitous paths. Balls roll gave performance like an acrobat in a circus there by turning wheels, hitting gangs and bells, creating music while passing through xylophones.
Next, the students experienced the Anaglyph 3D Image with red, blue and green glasses and saw the 3D panoramic view of the surface of Mars. Anaglyph images are used to provide the stereoscopic 3D effect when viewed with color glasses a chromatically opposite color, usally red and cyan. Images are made up of two color layers, super imposed.
After this, students were exposed to the following:
Persistence Vision:
The image of an object forms on the retina of the eye. This image stays on the retina for a short time, even after the object has moved away. This is called the persistence of vision.
Deceptive reality:
There are rotating cubical frames inside the 3 chambers of this display. Two different geometrical figures appear from nowhere and start rotating inside the cubical frames in the inner chambers.
Seebeck siren:
The disc has 8 circle, each circle having a certain number of equally spaced holes. 8 notes of music appear, and compressed air comes out of the nozzle and strikes the rotating disc.
Bucket radio:
As the bucket is placed over the pin a large volume of air enclosed by the bucket is forced into vibration thereby raising the loudness and making the music audible.
Coded music:
The slider blocks along any of the segments of a particular music code encrypted on the drum by sliding side wise. By turning the drum slowly, one can listen to the musical notes that are emitted.
