“Recent Scenario on Wildlife Conservation”

The Department of Wildlife Biology, Kongunadu Arts and Science College (Autonomous) organized a special programme with the support of Indian Science Congress Association, Coimbatore Chapter. As a part of Wildlife Week Celebration 2023 from the forest administrative sector on 16.10.2023 at our college at 11:00 AM was planned with lecture on “Recent Scenario on Wildlife Conservation”. Accordingly invitation was made and circulated in various streams such as Wildlife Biology, Zoology, Eco-Club and Bird-Club Members and professors.

The programme welcome address given by Dr.G.Sivasubramanian, Assistant Professor & Head i/c, inaugural address by Dr.M.Lekeshmanaswamy, Principal and felicitation address by Dr.S.Paulsamy, Dean, Research and Development.

The Chief Guest Shri. S.Ramasubramanian, IFS, Field Director and Conservator of Forests was delivered a special lecture on recent scenario on wildlife conservation. He has shared his experiences on various aspects of wildlife conservation such as tiger conservation programme, elephant conservation programme and other wildlife conservation in Tamil Nadu. He emphasized on implementation of Artificial Intelligence System to mitigate elephant mortality from rail line which passing through Coimbatore and Palghat railway line. The protection strategy followed by the Forest Department was highlighted by the Chief Guest such as interstate patrolling activities, importance of jungle patrolling, intelligence and informer networks, strengthening anti-poaching activities and community participation were broadly discussed.    

There are 110 students from various streams were participated in this programme. The programme successfully ends with the vote of thanks given by Dr. G.Srinivas Assistant Professor, Wildlife Biology.
