Department of Information Technology - About the Department

Department of  B.Sc Information Technology was introduced in the academic year 2008-2009 with Choice Based Credit System. At present our department is functioning with 5 well qualified staff members and 149 students.

The program is offering superfine academic ambience with qualified core faculty members to develop domain knowledge and rational skills of students. This Programme includes the study of software Engineering, Operating Systems, Computer Networks, Web Technology, Android Application Development, Advanced Java, RDBMS, Data Structures etc., Engaging in highly interactive Seminars and guest lectures with Industry-oriented resource person are conducted which help the students to bridge the gap between education and industrial need. MOOCS, NPTEL, value added courses and certificate courses are conducted by the department which helps the students to build  their career opportunities. Obtains standard of excellence in knowledge and skill through syllabus which include contemporary modules of advancement in IT field such as Artificial Intelligence, Big Data Analytics, IOT using Python, Information Security,  etc. Our department also offers internship training programmes. KASC TECH HUB  assists our students for real-time project work by which students would get the opportunities to develop their programming skills and gain exposure to the work in the industrial environment. The department is also well supported by the service of the vibrant Placement centre and the alumni of IT placed in leading companies like Infosys, Wipro, CTS, TCS, Tech Mahindra. Accenture, HCL, Bosch, etc. Learning about information Technology help to keep up and move beyond the limits of development in advancing manner.

The Department encourages the students to face the competitive world with great challenges. Our department mainly focuses on enlightening the student by updating them with latest IT trends.

Through our department association TECH-INNOVATORS Seminars and workshops are organized regularly to help the students to update their knowledge about the latest developments.

The Faculty members of the department carry out research in many frontier areas, which includes Data Mining, Computer Networks and Software Engineering.

Dr. K.Dhanalakshmi,  Assistant Professor and HoD in-charge of Information Technology is currently guiding 4 Ph.D Research Scholars.

B.Sc IT was started in the Year 2008.It  is designed to meet the growing demand for qualified professionals in the field of Information Technology. Our Department provides excellent Infrastructure with fully equipped laboratories and smart class rooms.Highly interactive and informative Seminars and guest lectures from Industry-oriented resource persons are conducted.Our Department has highly Competent and well experienced faculty members. Our Students has participated in various Intra ,Inter collegiate Competetions, Hackathons and has won many prizes.

Many of our students are placed in  corporate and leading MNCs like Wipro,HCL Cape Gemini, TCS, Infosys etc.Some of our Students occupy good positiions in State and Central Government  Sectors. Many of our students are pursuing their Higher studies in India and Abroad and some are Entrepreneurs.
