The Western Ghats – Biodiversity Conservation and Management of Ecosystems
The symposium on The Western Ghats – Biodiversity Conservation and Management of Ecosystems was held at Kongunadu Arts and Science College on March 6th and 7th, 2025, in collaboration with the Zoological Society of India. The Department of Wildlife Biology got 56 abstracts out of the symposium's total of 303 abstracts.
The Wildlife Biology Department conducted three sessions as part of the conference. The first session on March 6th was chaired by Dr. B. Ramakrishnan, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of Wildlife Biology, Government Arts College, The Nilgiris, and co-chaired by Dr. C. R. Jayaprakash, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Communication, PSG College of Arts & Science, Coimbatore. A total of eight papers were presented during this session.
On March 7th, the second session commenced at 10:00 AM and concluded at 3:00 PM. It was chaired by Dr. P. Kannan, Associate Professor, PG and Research Department of Zoology, Thiru. Ve. Ka. Government Arts College, Thiruvarur, with Dr. B. Ramakrishnan as the co-chair. The third session began at 2:00 PM and ended at 3:30 PM, chaired once again by Dr. B. Ramakrishnan, with Dr. C. R. Jayaprakash as the co-chair. This session featured 17 oral presentations.
The symposium successfully facilitated discussions on biodiversity conservation and ecosystem management in the Western Ghats, bringing together experts from diverse disciplines to share their research and insights.
