பன்னிரு திருமுறைகள் சைவசமய தோத்திர நூல்களாகப் போற்றப் பெறுவன. சமயப் பாடநூல்களாயினும் அவற்றில் தமிழ் மெய்யியல் சார்ந்த கருத்துகள் விரிவாக இடம்பெறுகின்றன. அவ்வகையில் ஐந்தெழுத்து என்று உரைக்கப்பெறும் சிவபெருமானின் மந்திர எழுத்துகளின் உள்ளுறையைப் பன்னிரு திருமுறை நூல்களில் ஆய்வதே நோக்கமாகும்.

சைவ இலக்கியங்களில் ஐந்தெழுத்து (முனைவா்பட்ட ஆய்வு)

இலக்கண இலக்கிய நூல்கள் மொழியில் போன்றே சைவ சமயத்திலும் தோத்திர சாத்திர நூல்கள் உள்ளன. அவற்றில் சைவ சமய மந்திரமாகிய  ஐந“தெழுத்துக்குக் கூறப்படும் இலக்கிய, இலக்கண, மெய்யியல் சார்ந்த கருத்துகளை விரிவாக ஆராய்வதாக ஆய்வு உள்ளது
