WORKSHOP ON FASHION SKETCHING

The Department of Costume Design & Fashion, Kongunadu Arts& Science College Coimbatore organised five days’ workshop on “FASHION SKETCHING” from 10.10.2022 to 14.10.2022.  The resource person for the workshop was Mrs. V.MIDHULA , founder of CHITRASENA MIDHULA ART STUDIO, Coimbatore  in Illustration lab for I-year CDF students. This workshop was planned with an aim to develop and enhance skills towards Fashion Sketching.

The workshop was formally inaugurated by Dr P.Sasikala, Associate Professor and Head, Department of CDF with welcome address on 10.10.2022. Day 1 session 1Different drawing and sketching mediums like pencils, inks, charcoal, brushes, crayons water colour and poster colour was explained and the same was practiced by the students. In session 2 different strokes and shading methods are demonstrated.

Day 2: Session 1 Croquie drawing technique is demonstrated t o the students. Students practiced the same and doubts were also clarified by the resource person. In the session 2 enlarging and reducing motif is demonstrated.

Day 3: Session 1 Hands-on training is given to students in the topic Elements of design. Application of elements of design – line, shape, in croquie In session 2 - colour, size and texture is practiced in various croquie poses.    

Day 4: Session 1: Hands – on training is done in the topic principles of design. Students practiced the principles of design - Balance, Harmony and emphasis in the different croquie. Corrections are suggested by the expert. In session 2 students practiced the application of proportion and rhythm in croquie poses.   

Day 5: Session 1 Sketching of different texture is demonstrated. Students practiced the different textures like denim, chiffon, velvet, knitted, woollen, felt, fur, and quilting. After the activity Mrs. V. Midhula took the feedback from all the participants. She also applause for the participants and said that they are very creative and did a very good job by creating designs using the techniques demonstrated by her. The students keenly participated in the workshop. This workshop was very fruitful for the students as it helped them to create their own designs with innovative style.
