B.Sc Chemistry

Eligibility : 

A candidate who have passed HSLC examination with Mathamatics, Physics, chemistry, Biology(or  Botany and zoology)  as subjects 

Duration : 3 Years

Strength : 48

Educational Objectives :

  • Our programme will be able to apply chemical concepts to solve qualitative and quantitative problems.

  • Students  will gain proficiency in logical deduction skills through written problems and laboratory work.

  • Leaners can identify problems and generate hypotheses, develop and implement experimental methods to test their hypotheses, and analyze and interpret the resulting data.

  • Our majors will experience how chemists interpret chemical and physical phenomena through experimental investigation. 

Program Specific Outcomes : 

  • Graduates will have a firm foundation in the fundamentals and application of current chemical and scientific theories including those in Analytical, Inorganic, Organic and Physical Chemistry. 

  • Graduates are able to employ critical thinking and scientific inquiry in the performance, design, interpretation and documentation of laboratory experiments.

  • Graduates are able to grab enormous existing job opportunities at all levels of chemical, medical, food processing, material industries and educational institutions. 

  • The graduates become entrepreneurs to own enterprises based on the national and International market potentials.

  • Graduates can perform good social responsibility with greater in ethics and conducive use of natural resources. 

Program Outcomes : 

On the successful completion of the programme, the following are the expected outcomes

  • Understood the basic concepts, fundamental principles, and the scientific theories related to various scientific phenomena and their relevancies in the day today life.

  • Acquired the skills in handling scientific instruments, planning and performing in laboratory experiments. 

  • The skills of observations and drawing logical inferences from the scientific experiments

  • Been able to think creatively (divergently and convergent) to propose novel ideas in explaining facts and figures or providing new solution to the problems

  • An understanding of professional, ethical, and social responsibilities

  • Determine the scope and perceive unique areas for further study and employability

  • Students will be skilled in problem solving, critical thinking and analytical reasoning as applied to scientific problems.

  •  To be exposed to the different process used in industries and their applications
     

 

M.Sc Chemistry

Eligibility : 

A candidate who have passed B. Sc. degree examination with Chemistry as Major and Mathematics and Physics as Ancillary subject

Duration : 2 Years

Program Specific Outcomes :

Upon completion of the programme,

  • The students are enabled to integrate the chemistry of many natural products, organic compounds, inorganic compounds, intermediate compounds, drugs and biologically important compounds.

  • The students will be proficient in the advanced level understanding of all the areas of chemistry, for  facing competitive exams like NET, SET, GATE, etc.,  

  • The students will be able to clearly articulate scientific information in oral, written and electronic formats

  • The students will be skilled in examining specific phenomena theoretically and /or experimentally, and the graduate is able to contribute to the generation of new scientific insights or to the innovation of new applications of chemical research. 

  • The students will appreciate the central role of chemistry in our society and use this as a basis for ethical behavior in issues facing chemistry including an understanding of safe handling of chemicals, environmental issues and key issues of our society in energy, health and medicine. 

Program Outcomes : 

  • The programme is designed in such a manner that the students are offered a more significant and advanced knowledge in the major areas of chemistry – Organic chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry and Physical Chemistry.

  • The students are exposed to applied laboratory techniques, critical thinking, independent and team learning, and are provided with research opportunities.

  • The students should be capable of broadening their professional foundation through activities such as teaching (seminars), internships and projects.

Ph.D Chemistry

Eligibility : The candidates should have passed a post-graduate degree course in the relevant subject either with SSLC + HSC + UG + PG (i.e., 10 + 2 + 3 + 2) or with 11-years SSLC + PUC + UG + PG (i.e., 11 + 1 + 3 + 2) or with 10-years SSLC + 3 years Diploma + 2 years UG degree + 2 years PG (i.e., 10 + 3 + 2 + 2) or with 10 years SSLC + HSC + 4 years UG degree and 1 year PG degree (i.e., 10 + 2 + 4 + 1). Thus, only the candidates possessing a PG degree with 17 years of total duration of study alone are eligible for admission to the Ph. D., programme

Duration : 

For PG Degree holders - Full Time - Minimum Period of 3 years - Maximum Period of 5 years - for Part Time - Minimum Period of 4 years - Maximum Period of 6 years                

For M.Phil. Degree holders -  Full Time - Minimum Period of 2 years - Maximum Period of 4 years - for Part Time - Minimum Period of 3 years - Maximum Period of 5 years
