Eligibility:

Higher Secondary Course students who have studied Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Home Science/Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics/Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics/Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science/Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology/Physics, Chemistry, Biotechnology (or) Biochemistry (or) Microbiology/ Higher Secondary Course Vocational Group (Under State Board of School Examinations, Tamil Nadu) with the Subjects (Tamil, English, Biology, Agricultural Practices, Theory, Practical-1 and Practical-II)

Duration: 3 Years

Program Specific Outcomes (PSOs)

  • Apply knowledge of applied science and research fundamentals in the area of biotechnology – cell and molecular biology, microbial technology, genomics, proteomics, genetic engineering, advanced plant and animal sciences, computational biology, etc

B.Sc degree with any life sciences having biological background, Biological Sciences (biology/Biochemistry/Biotechnology/Botany/Zoology/Human Genetics/Biomedical Genetics/Biomedical Engineering/B.Tech in biotechnology/Microbiology and Applied Microbiology, Plant Biotechnology/AnimalBiotechnology/Environmental Biotechnology/Gene Technology/Genetic Engineering/Environmental Science/Medical Microbiology/Plant Science/Nano Biotechnology/Nutrition and Food Technology/B.Voc. Food Processing Technology/Agriculture/B.Sc Biological Techniques and Specimen Preparation/Chemistry/Biomedical Science/Plant Biology and Biotechnology/Biochemistry)

Duration: 2 Years

Program Outcomes

  • Explain and properly apply the scientific method by developing valid hypotheses, designing experiments, gathering relevant data using current technology
  • To enable understanding of emerging and advanced concept in modern biology and help students to take up their carrier in this field.
  • Acquire in depth knowledge on the basic concepts of biology of living cells including structural, morphological and physiological features and functions. 
  • Apply the fundamentals of molecular biology theories, and techniques by critically analyzing and interpreting a recent and relevant scientific research paper that has been published in a refereed scientific journal.
  • Impart a clear vision on the minds about health and environmental crisis and their associated problems.
  • To impart a keen knowledge on economically important biomolecules and application of different cell culture system for better and improved production
  •  Encourage the desired interest of students to gain knowledge on latest allied fields with theatrical and technical skills to compete in the growing
M.Phil. / Ph.D (FT) in Biotechnology

M. Phil.

Eligibility:

Candidates with a Master’s degree of Bharathiar University in the concerned or related discipline or any other qualification recognized as equivalent thereto by the Syndicate of Bharathiar University are eligible.The candidates should have passed a post-graduate degree course either with SSLC + HSC + UG + PG (i.e., 10 + 2 + 3 + 2) or with 11-years SSLC + PUC + UG + PG (i.e., 11 + 1 + 3 + 2) or with 10-years SSLC + 3 years Diploma + 2 years UG degree + 2 years PG (i.e., 10 + 3 + 2 + 2) or with 10 years SSLC + HSC + 4 years UG degree and 1-year PG degree (i.e., 10 + 2 + 4 + 1). Thus, only the candidates possessing a PG degree with 17 years of total duration of study alone are eligible for admission to the M. Phil., programme.

Admission: Through NET/INSPIRE or through Common Entrance Test (CET) entrance exam conducted by the Bharathiar University followed by an interview

Duration: 1 Year ( Full time)


Ph. D.(FT) 

Eligibility:

PG Diploma in Bioinformatics

Eligibility: 

The eligibility criteria for the course is B.Sc. degree in any Life Sciences with specialization in either subjects of Biochemistry, Genetics, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Statistics with a minimum aggregate percentage of 55%. The one-year program will have two semesters, and the examination for the course work will be carried out as theory and practical.
