Recent Events:
  • On 24.02.2026, a Workshop on Mushroom Cultivation was organized for students. The session aimed to provide hands-on knowledge and technical insights into the process of growing mushrooms, focusing on its potential for entrepreneurship and sustainable agriculture. Dr. V. Elakkiya, Assistant Professor, PG & Research Department of Biotechnology, KASC, served as the resource person. In her capacity as an Innovation Ambassador and Coordinator for YUKTI-NIR & KASC-I HUB, she provided expert guidance on cultivation techniques, resource management, and the innovative practices required for successful mushroom production. A total of 100 students attended the workshop and benefited from the practical and informative session.

  • On 23.02.2026, an Awareness Programme on the Availability of Government Job Opportunities was organized for students. The session aimed to inform participants about various government employment options, eligibility criteria, and preparation strategies. Dr. M. Suganthi, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Applications, KASC, Coimbatore, served as the resource person. She provided detailed guidance on competitive examinations, application procedures, and career planning in the public sector. A total of 92 students attended the programme and benefited from the informative session.

  • On 07.01.2026 and 08.01.2026, the Department of Psychology in collaboration with the Department of IT organized a two-day workshop on “Kotha Pottery Clay Art” in connection with Janjatiya Gaurav Divas.The workshop aimed to encourage creativity, cultural appreciation, and hands-on learning through traditional clay art.Mrs. Vasantha Kumar, M.Sc., Fevicryl Certified Specialist from Pidilite, served as the resource person.She provided practical training and demonstrated various techniques in clay modelling and artistic design. A total of 25 students actively participated and gained experiential learning from the workshop.

  • On 09.12.2025, the Department organized a Seminar on “Enlightening Young Minds: Stress Less, Think Better” in collaboration with the Departments of Computer Science, Data Analytics, Psychology, and AI & ML.The programme aimed to create awareness about stress management and promote positive thinking among students.Mr. N. Amirudeen Hasani, Assistant Professor of Tamil, Jamal Mohamed College (Autonomous), Tiruchirappalli, served as the resource person.He shared practical strategies to manage stress effectively and enhance mental clarity and academic performance. A total of 293 students and 10 faculty members participated and benefited from the seminar.

  • On 28.11.2025, the Department organized an Awareness Programme on the POSH Act, 2013 and Drug Abuse Prevention as part of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, themed “End Digital Violence Against All Women and Girls". The programme aimed to educate students on workplace safety, legal rights, and the prevention of substance abuse. Dr. K. Mangayarkarasi, Assistant Professor and Empowered Resource Person, Department of Women’s Studies, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, and Dr. C. Ramya, Research Associate, Department of Women’s Studies, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, served as the resource persons. They highlighted the importance of creating safe environments and addressing digital and gender-based violence. Around 166 students actively participated and benefited from the programme.

  • On 23 September 2025, the Department of Psychology, KASC, in collaboration with Dignity Foundation, organized a Walkathon to commemorate World Alzheimer's Day. The event aimed to raise awareness about Alzheimer’s disease, promote mental health, and encourage community support for the well-being of senior citizens.Dr. Helena Sevakodi, Psychiatrist, District Mental Health Programme (DMHP), Coimbatore, and Founder and Director of Anandham Mind Care Foundation at Thudiyalur, Coimbatore, served as the Chief Guest. She addressed the participants and emphasized the importance of early identification of Alzheimer’s disease, mental health awareness, and the need to create a supportive environment for elderly individuals affected by cognitive disorders. The Walkathon witnessed enthusiastic participation from more than 200 students and 40 senior citizens, making the event a meaningful initiative that fostered awareness and solidarity towards individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease. The programme successfully highlighted the significance of compassion, care, and community involvement in supporting the elderly and promoting mental health awareness.

  • On 22 September 2025, the Department of Psychology organized a One-Day Workshop on “Team Building and Conflict Resolution.” The workshop aimed to enhance students’ interpersonal skills, promote effective teamwork, and equip them with practical strategies for managing and resolving conflicts in professional and personal environments. Lakshana S. P., Delivery Lead, Digital Productivity Studio at SLB, Coimbatore, and Gayathri V., Delivery Manager, Digital Productivity Studio at SLB, Coimbatore, served as the Chief Guests and resource persons. They shared valuable insights on the importance of collaboration, communication, leadership, and effective conflict management in the workplace. Through interactive activities and practical examples, the speakers highlighted the significance of building strong teams and maintaining a positive work environment. A total of 93 students actively participated in the workshop and benefited from the informative and engaging sessions.

  • On 12 September 2025, the Department of Psychology organized a Gender Equality Awareness Programme to promote the importance of equality, respect, and inclusivity among students. The programme aimed to create awareness about gender rights, challenge stereotypes, and encourage a culture of mutual respect within the academic community.As part of the initiative, the faculty members and students of the Department of Psychology conducted a campus-wide awareness campaign by visiting classrooms across various departments of the college. During the campaign, they interacted with students and highlighted key aspects of gender equality, including the importance of equal opportunities, respect for all genders, and the need to eliminate discrimination and bias in society. The awareness programme successfully engaged students from different departments and helped foster a deeper understanding of gender equality and social responsibility within the campus.

  • On 02 and 03 September 2025, the Department of Psychology organized a Two-Day Workshop on “SPSS and Data Analysis in Psychological Research.” The workshop aimed to equip students with essential skills in statistical analysis and to enhance their understanding of research methodology in psychology using SPSS software. Ranjith, Founder and Director of Archecognicare and Guest Lecturer in the Department of Psychology at Government Arts College, served as the Chief Guest and resource person. He provided hands-on training on the use of SPSS for data entry, statistical analysis, and interpretation of research data in psychological studies. Through practical demonstrations and interactive sessions, participants gained valuable insights into quantitative research techniques and the application of statistical tools in psychological research. A total of 63 students actively participated in the workshop and benefited from the sessions.

  • On 26 August 2025, the Department of Psychology organized a Mental Health Awareness Programme in collaboration with the Department of B.Com IT, KASC. The programme aimed to create awareness among students about the importance of mental health, emotional well-being, and strategies to manage stress and maintain a balanced lifestyle. During the programme, students were sensitized to various aspects of mental health, including recognizing common psychological challenges, the importance of seeking help, and ways to support peers experiencing emotional difficulties. The session also highlighted the significance of maintaining positive mental health in academic and personal life. The programme successfully engaged students from both departments and encouraged open discussions about mental health, thereby promoting a supportive and understanding environment within the campus.

  • On 01 August 2025, the Department of Psychology organized a National Level Seminar on “The Psychology of Parenting Styles” through online mode. The seminar aimed to provide students with insights into different parenting styles and their psychological impact on children’s development, behavior, and emotional well-being. Tharani P., Counselling Psychologist and Founder of Heretohear, affiliated with TalktoAngel, Delhi, and Manoha Therapy, Bangalore, served as the Chief Guest and resource person. She shared valuable insights on various parenting approaches, including authoritative, authoritarian, permissive, and uninvolved parenting styles, and explained how these influence a child’s personality, emotional regulation, and social development.The seminar provided an interactive platform for students to understand the role of parents in shaping healthy psychological development. A total of 93 students actively participated and benefited from the informative session.

  • On 28 July 2025, the Department of Psychology organized a Seminar on “Job Opportunities for Psychology Students” in collaboration with Hands for You, Coimbatore. The seminar aimed to create awareness among students about various career opportunities available in the field of psychology and to guide them in planning their professional paths. Thilak Kumar, Founder and Director of Hands for You, Coimbatore, served as the Chief Guest and resource person. He shared valuable insights on different career prospects for psychology graduates, including opportunities in counselling, mental health services, social work, and non-governmental organizations. The session provided students with practical guidance on skill development, career planning, and the importance of professional commitment in the field of psychology. A total of 93 students actively participated and benefited from the seminar.

  • Birth Trauma Awareness week was organised by department of psychology, KASC in collaboration with Natchiyar Mind Care on 19.07.2025.  The total number of students got benefited is 93.

  • Inaugural ceremony of psychology association and Samrakshana counselling centre was organised by department of psychology on 11.07.2025. Dr.K.Sumangala, Associate Professor & Head, Department of Computer Application KASC was the chief guest.

  • Psychology exhibition was organised by department of psychology on 07.03.2025. Dr.S.Arichandran, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of Tamil, KASC was the chief guest. More than 350 students visited the exhibition.  

  • Poster Presentation on the theme of Conserving the Western Ghats was conducted by department of psychology on 07.03.2025. Dr. Deleep Kumar, IFS Former Principal Chief Conservator of Forest Van Bhawan, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh was the chief guest.

  • One Day National Level Seminar on Role of Psychologist in the Management of Forest and Environment was conducted by department of psychology on 07.03.2025  by the resource person Dr. Deleep Kumar, IFS Former Principal Chief Conservator of Forest Van Bhawan, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. The national level seminar provided students with insights into how psychology can influence conservation efforts. Participants explored the role of psychology in fostering sustainable behaviors, understanding human attitudes toward the environment, and contributing to effective conservation strategies. The total number of students got benefited is 95.

  • Mime on the theme of Conserving the Nature as a part of "The Western Ghats Fest”was organized by the Psychology department in the open auditorium of our college on 06.03.2025. Dr.S.Arichandran, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of Tamil, KASC was the chief guest. Students frrom various colleges participated in the Mime competition. 

  • The department of psychology has organized the one day workshop on Expressive Art Therapy held on 05.03.2025 by the resource person Ms. M.Harshitha, Counselling Psychologist & Expressive Art Therapist, Coimbatore.  The Art Therapy seminar offered participants valuable insights into the therapeutic use of creative expression. Attendees explored how art can facilitate emotional healing, enhance self-awareness, and support mental well-being. The seminar emphasized the practical application of art therapy techniques to address a range of psychological issues and promote personal growth. The total number of students got benefited is 64.

  • 26.02.2025 by V.Thanusri, Counseling Psychologist, Founder of Arthanu Holistic Healing Space, Coimbatore. By gaining a deep understanding of the principles and techniques of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapy, as well as Art Therapy, students are prepared to apply these therapeutic methods in real-world settings. Through role play and interactive exercises, they develop the practical skills needed to effectively implement these therapies and support clients in their journey toward meaningful change. The total number of students got benefited is 62.

  • The department of Psychology has organized the Seminar on Counselling Skills and Therapeutic Approaches held on 08.01.2025. The resource person of the seminar was DR.R.J.Haribabu, Managing Director & Psychologist, Heartfulnness Counselling Center, Tiruppur. The program aimed to develop communication abilities, cultural competence, and therapeutic expertise, students are prepared to become effective counselors and mental health professionals who can navigate the complexities of human behavior and help clients achieve meaningful change in their lives.  The total number students go benefited is 62.

  • The department of Psychology has organized the Seminar on “Dementia and Quiz competition”  in collaboration  with  Dignity Foundation held on 10.12.2024. The resource person of the seminar was   Dr.Vedhagiri Ganesan, Former HOD Department of Psychology, Bharathiar University.  The program Offer a combination of education and engagement, raising awareness about dementia and providing students with practical knowledge by integrating a quiz competition. Total number of beneficiaries was 92. 

  • The department of Psychology has conducted the seminar on “Gender Sensitization and POSCH Act 2013” held on 09.12.2024. The chief guest of the seminar was Madhivanan, M.A.,B.L, MJF LION ADVOCATE Mediator in district court ADR PANEL, Coimbatore. The students had an opportunity to gain the knowledge on PoSCH Act and develop a deeper understanding of gender-based discrimination, stereotypes, and biases. They found out how societal constructs shape gender roles and the importance of promoting gender equality.

  • Psychology Exhibition and Mental Health Awareness Program for School and College Students was organized by the department of psychology on 10.10.2024 in the remembrance of World Mental Health day. Mrs.B.Kavitha, Assistant Professor and Head, Dept. of Psychology, Kongunadu Arts and Science College, Coimbatore delivered the keynote speech for the day. 352 school students participated in the exhibition and attended the mental health awareness speech. The exhibition would serve as a significant step toward fostering knowledge of subject of Psychology and the importance of mental health among various school students.

  • In Collaboration with the PG Department of English, department of Psychology organized Seminar on “Cultural Representation of Gender” on 21.09.2024. Ms.R.Dilipa, Women Head Constable, (Police Akka), Thudiyalur Police Station, Coimbatore and Ms.Kalyanee Das, Assistant Professor, Department of psychology, PSG College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore were the chief guests of the day. Totally 215 students were participated. Gained the awareness on cultural representation of gender in current scenario and contribute to a richer understanding of gender in cultural contexts, fostering a collaborative academic environment.

  • 10 Students from III B.Sc. Psychology has delivered the Mental Health Awareness Program for School Students of VSCM Matric Hr. Sec. School, Green Field Campus, Coimbatore on 21.09.2024. 270 school students were participated. School-based mental health programs are most effective. Students who have better mental health literacy are more likely to seek help and less likely to have negative attitudes towards mental health.

  • Professional Development Programme (PDP) on Classroom Psychology and Psychological skills for Effective Teaching and Learning was organized by Department of psychology on 12.09.2024. The Chief Guest of the program was Dr.B.Selvaraj, Controller of Examination, Government Arts & Science College, Coimbatore and Dr.R.Sudha, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Psychology, Avinashilingam Institute, Coimbatore. 33 faculties from various schools and 90 Students from department of psychology have participated. By participating in a PDP centered on Classroom Psychology and Psychological Skills for Effective Teaching and Learning, teachers can become more effective educators, positively influencing their students' academic and personal development.

  • World Suicide Prevention  day celebrated annually on 10th September, commemoration of the day psychology department organized World Suicide Prevention day awareness program by performing Skit and Rally by the students of psychology on 10.09.2024. The chief guest of the day was Mrs.Latha, Inspector of Police, Thudiyalur Police Station, Coimbatore and Dr. CA. Vasugi, Secretary and Director, Kongunadu Arts and Science College, Coimbatore. Number of students participated in Rally was 358 and 1500 – watched skit approximately. The programs outcomes: Increased Awareness; Understanding Mental Health; Recognizing Warning Signs; Reduced Stigma; Community Engagement; Enhanced Support Systems; Increased Help-Seeking Behavior; Promoting Mental Health Resources etc.

  • The department of psychology has organized the Self Defense Workshop & Counselling held on 13.08.2024 & 14.08.2024. The resource person of the chief guest was Mr.J.Gokul Raj, Founder Trustee and Martial Arts Trainer, Aram Foundation, Mr. Dorai Sundaram, Mentor/ Counselor at Wesley Mission, Australia, Aram Charitable Trust. Students learnt the self defense exercises and gained the knowledge on types of abuses and women’s safety measures ect.

  • On 12.08.2024 the department of psychology in collaboration with Clinical nutrition and B.com Banking and insurance organized the National level seminar on “Health habits and Happy Workplace” – Nutrition, Exercise and Stress Reduction StrategiesThe resource persons of the seminar was Dr. Shunmukha Priya.S, Senior Consultant (Medical nutrition & Clinical Research), Bangalore, Ms.Anupriya Ramesh, Clinical Physiotherapist, Founder – Physio Educator, Chennai, Ms.Dharani Mahalingam, Counselling Psychologist, Coimbatore and Mrs. Dheepika.R.T, Chief Business Manager, The New India Assurance Co Ltd, Coimbatore. Participants acquired the knowledge about living a healthy lifestyle can help prevent chronic diseases and long-term illnesses. Feeling good about themselves and taking care of their health are important for forming self-esteem and self-image. Maintain a healthy lifestyle by doing what is right for their body. The number of students participated from Other colleges: 101 and our college students is 262.

  • Inaugural Ceremony of Psychology Association & Samrakshana Counselling Centre was held on 09.08.2024 in C-50, C-block new. The resource person of the inaugural was Dr. G. Youveniya, Associate Professor & Head, Kongunadu Arts and Science College, Coimbatore, delivered the talk on “Linguistic Psychology”.  The program aimed to Promote the Samrakshana Counselling Centre and Psychology Association for I B.Sc. Students. It helps to learn the relationship between language and Psychology. The total number of students got benefited is 91. 

  • The collaborative activity was conducted with the department of BBA.CA. on the topic of Design Thinking which is presented by Yuva on 28.03.2024. The chief guest of the program was Mr.Yash Mannivanan, Founder and CEO, Walts and Joules INC. The total number students participated in the seminar was 143.

  • The department of psychology has conducted the Exhibition on psychological topics on the occasion of agri tiruvizha,Startup & Awards on 05.01.2024. The chief guest of the program was Dr.Shivaa, Founder ,Happy mindster international, Coimbatore. The total number of beneficiaries is 80.

  • Department of psychology has conducted the workshop on the topic Overview of Psychological research methodology on 11.03.2024. The chief guest of the program was Mrs.Paviyazhini K.S. Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology, PSGR, Krishnammal College for Women.  totally 60 students were got benefited.

  • We had organized the workshop on Capacity Building & Personality Development with the collaboration of NCW, on 07.02.2024. TR.Pavithra, Director, Skills&Excellence,KGISL, Ms.Selvapranambika, Mrs.S.Sumi Research scholars, Department of extension & carrier guidance, Bharathiar University, Dr.S.Kalpana, HOD of AI and DS KGISL, Coimbatore acted as a resource persons.  The total number of students got benefited is 196 girl students.

 

 

Past Events:
  • Department of psychology have organized a seminar on The Role of Psychologist in Current Scenario on 13.12.2023. Dr.V. Chandramohan, Clinical Psychologist was the chief guest for the program. Totally 61 were participated in the seminar.

  • We have conducted a two day Exhibition on 09th and 10th October in Conference Hall. We invited students from schools and various departments in our college. The program was started at 10.00 Am and the Secretary Dr.C.A.Vasugi was invited to inaugurate the exhibition. After visiting the exhibition the school students are asked to attend the mental health program and it was presented by Mrs.B.Kavitha, HOD i/c, Department of psychology.  the number of students participated is 1500.

  • We have conducted a seminar on the Stress Management & Overcoming Behavioral Addiction was held on 14th August 2023. The seminar was organized by the Department of Psychology & Commerce Banking and Insurance. Around 157 students were attended the seminar. The Chief Guest of the program was Dr.P.Thamilselvan, Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology, PSG College of Ars and Science, Coimbatore.

  • The department of Psychology has organized an workshop on Self-defense and Counselling on 07.08.2023 to 11.08.2023. The chief guest for the program is from Aram Foundation Charitable Trust, Coimbatore. Mr. Gokul Raj founder and trustee and martial arts trainer provided the students with self-defense with the help of his volunteers. Ms.Anu Kiruthika Manager, has given the counseling on the topic women's mental health. 312 girl students were benefited in this program.

  • Department of psychology have conducted a one day seminar on the title of “Enlightening Young Minds” on 27.07.2023. We invited students and differently abled student from various departments in our college. The Resource person of the seminar was Ms. Radhika.AJ, Artisan & founder, Queenbee paper crafts & creative arts, Coimbatore. Totally 170 students were participated from various departments.

  • The Inaugural ceremony of Psychology Association and Samrakshana Counselling centre has been organized by department of Psychology on 24.07.2023. The resource person of the inaugural was DR.B.Selva Raj, Controller of Examination, Government Arts College, Coimbatore. He has renowned the counselling center named SAMRAKSHANA by cutting the ribbon and formulated the case history format for the various types of counselling. Then the resource person has honored the President and Vice President of the Psychology Association.

  • Department of psychology has organized a webinar on Teen’s Depression & Coping Strategies” on 17.03.2023 in Google meet (www.meet.google.com/ink-yqqs-ubr). The resource person of the webinar was Mrs.S.V.Jayasree, Special Educator, Birla public school, Doha, Qatar. 37 students from the Department of Psychology had participated in the webinar. 

  • Department of psychology has organized the one-day seminar on the topic “New perceptive of Indian psychology” on 10.03.2023. The resource person of the seminar MR. S. Jeladharan, Counsellor and Trainer, PSGR Krishnammal College for Women, Coimbatore.  He emphasized the importance of Indian psychology in an understandable edition. totally 37 students were participated in the seminar. 

  • KASC institution innovation council, Department of psychology and PG and Research Department of biochemistry jointly organized a seminar entitled " How to get start-up idea" on 18.06.2022. A total of 167 students and research scholars actively participated in the seminar which was delivered by Dr.B.Divya priya, Associate Professor, Department of commerce, KASC, Coimbatore, gave key notes to the gathering on what is startups? How to get startup ideas? standards essential for startups etc. 

  • We have conducted a seminar on the title “Career guidance and counselling” on 08.02.2023, around 11.00 am. The Resource Person of the program was Mr.B.A.Abdul Malik, CEO, USC Academy, Udumalpet. The participants of the program consisted of 261 students and teaching faculty from various departments of Kongunadu arts and science college, Coimbatore. 

  • The department of psychology organized a workshop on Mental Status Examination (MSE) and Case Study Reporting on 25.01.2023. The chief guest of the workshop was Mr. Arun Kumar, Asst professor and head (i/c), CMS college of science and commerce. The students of II Bsc and IIIBsc constituted the partcipants of the workshop. 

  • The department of Psychology has organized an workshop on Self-defense and Counselling from 18/10/22 to 21/10/2022. The chief guest for the program is from Aram Foundation Charitable Trust, Coimbatore. Mr. Gokul Raj founder and trustee and martial arts trainer provided the students with self-defense with the help of his volunteers. Ms.Anu Kiruthika Manager, has given the counseling on the topic women's mental health. The aim of this program is to promote the awareness on women's mental health and provide better counselling for girl child. Around 420 girls students were participated in this workshop.

  • The department of psychology celebrated the World Mental Health Day on 10.10.2022 which is observed on October 10 of every year, with the intention of promoting mental health awareness and organising the effort to improve mental health. As the theme of the year was “make mental health for all a global priority”. 

  • We have conducted a seminar on the title “Be a change maker” on 13.09.2022. The Resource Person of the program was Ms. M. Anu Kiruthika, Manager, Aram foundation charitable trust, Coimbatore.  The participants of the program consisted of 177 students and teaching faculty from various departments of Kongunadu arts and science college, Coimbatore.

  • As stated in the Government Order, Letter No. 1535/A1/2022-1, dated: 07.02.2022, Awareness Program on Problems faced by the students over usage of social media held on 12th March, 2022 at 10.00am to 12noon through MS-Teams link https://teams.live.com/meet/ 9586477393482. The Department of Psychology & Department of Computer Applications, Konguandu Arts and Science College jointly organized the program for the parents as well as for the students. 

  • On 24/12/2021 we have arranged the field trip to Marialaya Rehabilitation home for street girls as a part of field  trip program for our II B.Sc. students to know about mental illness faced by the girls and helping them to  recover from their problems through Counselling. 

  • All Students of our department have attended webinar on Covid-19 which was organized by Psychological Foundation, Conducted by  Mrs.Priya Senthil (Coordinator), Presided over by Dr.Vanathi Srinivasan.·    

  • All students of our department provided counselling services to the Covid patients with the help of Dr.Karthikeyan and Mr.Gokul (Global Medical Centre). Student-volunteers did invaluable service to the patients by helping them keep a positive frame of mind. With a sense of serving the society, they spoke to the patients, provided them moral support, and motivated them to think positively. Students to actively involve themselves, to serve the community at all times, and especially at times of need. Date of Counselling : 11/06/2021 to 22/06/2021.

  • We have organized the Webinar on “Emotional Intelligence as a Life Skill”, led by Dr.Prof.Captain.(IN).M. Ramasubramaniyam, Chief administrative Officer and Secretary, Board of Governors, IIM, Kashipur, Uttarakhand, on 13/03/2021. Students from various departments were participated.

  • As stated in the Government Order, Letter No. 1535/A1/2022-1, dated: 07.02.2022, Awareness Programme on Problems faced by the students over usage of social media held on 12th March, 2022 at 10.00am to 12noon through MS-Teams link https://teams.live.com/meet/ 9586477393482. The Department of Psychology & Department of Computer Applications, Konguandu Arts and Science College jointly organized the programme for the parents as well as for the students.  

  • Our teaching staff Dr.S.Mahalakshmi, HOD and Mrs.B.Kavitha, Assistant Professor, visited many Government schools to hold an awareness programs for the students. In this regard, permission was obtained from the Principals of various schools namely Girls High School, Asokapuram, Corporation Kamalanathan Memorial Higher Secondary School, Venkitapuram, Coimbatore and T.A.
