- Genesis
-
Department of Physics is one of the oldest department of the College.The department was established in the year 1973 with pre-university course. UG and PG programmes were started in the years 1978 and 1984 respectively. In the year 2000 the research programmes MPhil and PhD were also started as self financing courses .
- Salient Features

- The department has been recognized by sanctioning fund from Central and State Governments.
- The department was also supported under the DST-FIST, CE,CPE programme worth ₹ 40 Lakhs for creating major facilities in PG and Research Laboratories.
- Faculty members recieved major research projects from various funding agencies like UGC, CSIR, DST, TNSC for higher education worth ₹ 95 Lakhs
- Many counsultancy services such as UV-Visible, PL, etc are extended for research purpose.
- Courses having focus on empolyability/entrepreneurship/skill development/moral values/ethics were introduced which will enable the students to excel successfully in their career and become a good citizen.
- Feedbacks are taken from alumni, parents, teachers and academic peers/employers and they are analysed while designing the syllabus for the courses
- Many students after graduation are placed in reputed industries and educational instituteons in national and international level.
- Various activities such as Dynamic Physics Forum, Energy Conservation clubs, Association meetings, seminars, webinars, science day celebrations are carried out with great interest and zeal by the staffs and students of our department
