Department of Bio-Technology - About the Department

PG and Research Department of Biotechnology was incepted in the year 1996 with Undergraduate programme and subsequently Post graduate programme in the year 2002 & Research Programmes in the year 2003. The aspirations of young students to learn the basics and applications of biotechnology are enhanced by the expertise of committed and experienced faculty members whose thrust areas of research include Molecular Biology, Plant Biotechnology, Environmental Biotechnology, Animal Biotechnology, Medical Biotechnology, Nanobiotechnology, Microbial and Bioprocess Technology, Genetic Engineering, Genomics and Proteomics.The Department has been awarded with the prestigious DBT STAR College Scheme in the year 2013 and has also been supported under DST-FIST scheme for upgrading the infrastructure facility for PG teaching and research.The primary goal of the Department is to impart quality education, training, research and entrepreneurial capabilities among the youth such that they contribute to Nation building through quality science research, innovations and ventures.

Over the years, the department has blossomed as one of the best centers for imparting quality education to aspiring young students to grasp the basics and applications of biotechnology for societal wellbeing.
